On August 8th, Aaron started out 10th in the heat and moved up quickly to 5th place. Even though Aaron had faster lap times, he couldn't get past #28 for 4th place. Aaron tried passing him high and low but #28 would drift up/come down into Aaron's path and he'd have to back off. Aaron was a little frustrated but had a lot of fun. I on the other hand was a little nervous. Since I use to race, I can tell you there are a lot less butterflies sitting in the driver's seat than there are sitting in the stands watching your spouse, family and friends race.
The feature was supposed to start in basically the same order as the heat and I wasn't looking forward to a repeat of that race. The rain started coming down right before intermission and they ended up calling it quits for the night. I'm sure some were happy to see the rain come and some were disappointed. This was the last night before the Race For The Chase begins. Now, only the top 12 drivers in each division are eligible to win the championship. Also, all points are brought closer together so anyone in the top 12 could win depending on how the rest of the season goes. So, 1st place has 4500 points, 2nd place has 4490 points, 3rd place (ie Aaron) has 4480 points and so on.
