Good Start to the Season

May 1st was Aaron's first race of the season. The Super Hornets had double features. Aaron started 1st for the 1st feature and ended up winning the race. #28 has an equal car and he started in the back and finished 2nd. For the second feature, Aaron started 2nd and #28 started in the back again. This time when #28 made it to the front, Aaron slowed down a little and waved #28 up so they could have some fun. When they came upon some lap traffic, #28 snuck through the pack and ended up winning the race with Aaron finishing 2nd. They both had a lot of fun.

May 8th was supposed to be a Mini-Stock night but only Aaron and the #28 showed up so they thought we'd be spending the evening watching other people race. The owner of Elko came up with an interesting proposition. He asked the guys if they wanted to race with the 8 cylinder Power Stocks. They thought it might be fun so they decided to try it out. They both got a little pushed around but they only ended up with some scratches and donuts and had some fun. We did find out that Elko will no longer be doing the Mini-Stock division so all the Mini-Stock nights are now Super Hornet nights. This makes Aaron really happy although he would have really liked for more Mini-Stocks to show up.

May 15th was a regular night for the Super Hornets. Aaron started 5th in the heat and found the cars in the inside lane to be rather slow. He patiently made his way forward but #28 was already in the lead so this time #28 won and Aaron got 2nd. In the feature Aaron started on the outside of the front row and #12 was on the inside of him. # 28 started in the 2nd to last row. Aaron quickly got out front with #12 behind him. #28 got caught up in traffic but eventually made it to 3rd place. So, Aaron won his 2nd feature. In the pits we had #12 on our left and # 28 on our right so it was great to see our little group finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. :)

Almost Ready to Go Racing

Last year ended with another smashed racecar and no clear direction about what to do in 2010. A lot has happened since then. Aaron's parents bought a racecar from the #37 Super Hornet and Aaron will be driving that this year. They also brought up an enclosed hauler for him to use. He is very excited about the new car and hauler. He went to practice last night and got some very fast times in the car. After practice, he took the car to get graphics put on. The car won't be ready for this Saturday but it looks like it will be raining all day anyway. There are a lot of thank you's to mention:

God (for everyone and everything, He is the source of all we have!)
Mom & Dad Hopkins (for racecar, hauler, etc)
Mom & Dad Nordwall (for storage, knowledge, etc)
Ace Hardware & Paint (for sponsoring Aaron another year)
Farmington Steakhouse (for sponsoring Aaron another year)
Brothers Jorgenson Racing (for working on the car)
Godfrey Custom Signs (for putting graphics on the car)
Kruse Racing (for painting the car)
Nordrum Racing (for working on the car)
Fritz family (for help and support)
Pridgen family (for help and support)
Jim, Josh, Zach, Joey, Ashley (for helping out)

I'm sure I've forgotton someone. I don't know everyone that has helped Aaron out so I'll add you after Aaron reads this and gives me his corrections.

We have a few others that will we are about 90% sure will sponsor us but I'll wait for another blog to add them.
